A new Public Policy Polling survey of North Carolina voters is out, and it has more good news for Democrats, with Barack Obama "shoring up his lead" and expanding it (to 6 points) over Republican John McCain in the presidential race. Some undecideds have gone to Obama, Tom Jensen says.
PPP also shows Democrat Kay Hagan maintaining a 9 point lead over incumbent U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., in the U.S. Senate race.
PPP also says there's power in showing up: Obama's N.C. numbers have risen when he's campaigned here.
No word from PPP yet on new numbers in the race for governor just yet, but the last poll released last week showed good news for Republicans with Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory leading Democratic Lt. Gov. Bev Perdue by 3.

I'm so disappointed by the GOP candidate for president. I supported him against Bush in 2000, and thought a mixed ticket with Kerry in 2004 would have been a great idea. But now the slogan seems to be 'McCain First.' I can't understand how a leader I once respected for his concern for this country could have possibly nominated Sarah Palin as VP - I'm personally offended by this choice, because she's obviously not prepared to lead this country, and her selection undercuts every argument about McCain being a hero and a patriot. It just makes it clear that McCain is out for himself, not for me or for this country. No patriot would tolerate the possibility of Palin in the White House. And with these despicable swift-boat attacks - haven't we seen enough of them? I expected a McCain campaign of honor and decency, instead I get nothing but the lies and spin. McCain hasn't told me what he'll do, he's just blathering on about soem professor Obama had coffee with 20 years ago. How is that relevant? There's really only one choice for president, as far as I'm concerned - and McCain isn't it.
